Sereta Amber Stewart Ramsey was born July 17, 1950, in Johnson County, Texas to Lecil L & Sammie M Williams Stewart. She passed away October 31, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas.
Sereta grew up in Glen Rose, Texas, graduating from Glen Rose High School where she was Homecoming Queen, FFA Sweetheart and voted Most Beautiful in Sommervell County. After graduating high school she attended cosmetology school and later opened her own shop known as the Scissor Shack. Sereta met her husband, affectionately known as “Ramsey” in 1995 at the Rainbow Country Store where he was employed. They were married February 6, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV. After a brief stay in San Angelo they moved to Hearne, Tx where they lived until her passing. They loved their little place in the woods. Sereta was an avid reader of romance novels and loved flowers and plants of all kinds, especially sunflowers and morning glories. Many times she and Ramsey would plant sunflowers that grew over six feet tall. She was crafty and loved making wreaths.
Sereta is survived by her husband, James Ramsey, her daughters, Sharye Strickland (Freddie), Shawna Westbrook (Mike), her brother Timothy Stewart, her nephew, Martin Stewart, her stepchildren, Carl Ramsey (Joni), Jamie McCarver (Shannon), 10+ grandchildren, Nathan & Neileigh Strickland, CJ McClure, Taylor (Katie), Mason, Drake & Jackson Westbrook, Wayne Ramsey, Hanna & McKenzy McCarver, 3+ great grandchildren, Larkin & River Strickland, and William Westbrook.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Cpl. Rhett Allen Butler, killed in active duty in Iraq, and sister-in-law, Sharon Stewart.
Graveside services will be held at a later date where she will be laid to rest beside her son in Squaw Creek Cemetery, Rainbow, Texas.
