Robert Gonzalez, 71, passed away at his home in Hearne, Texas on August 20, 2025, after a lengthy battle with ALS.
He is survived by his beloved partner of 15 years, John Zeig, brothers Richard (wife Peggy) and Roland (wife Mary); nieces, nephews, many extended family members and friends; and treasured dog Evie. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Catarino Jr. and Ann Gonzalez, sister-in-law Christine Hunter, and several other dear relatives.
Robert graduated from Bellaire High School in 1972 and earned a B.A. in Architecture from Texas Tech University. He built a career in real estate, excelling in property management and later contributing to the growth of Coldwell Banker’s Houston operations. Known for his creativity and generosity, Robert loved building projects big and small, from model trains and dollhouses to a beautiful backyard renovation at home. He enjoyed helping family with home projects and design and gave generously of his time and talents to support his local church and community.
Robert will be remembered for his generosity, dedication to family, and enduring faith. As he often said: “It’s in God’s hands.”
Services are entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice Brazos Valley (502 W 26th St, Bryan TX 77803) or the ALS Association (als.org).
