Robert “Bo” Rose passed away on the morning of Wednesday, July 16th, at Baylor Scott and White hospital in College Station, Texas, with his family by his side.
Robert Wirt Rose was born February 20,1944, in Gause, Texas, to Lee Eugene and Lois (Roper) Rose. He graduated from Milano High School. He married Louise Darlene Kunkel on November 15, 1968. Together they had three children, Dennis Harold Rose, Darla Ann Rose, and Dana Lou Rose Arledge. He had two grandchildren, Taryn Dane Arledge and Tyley Danae Arledge, which was no doubt the light of his life! To all that knew him well his nickname was “Bo.”
He worked as a younger man selling cars at Gaither Motor Company where he got another nickname, “Pretty Boy Bo” due to his meticulous appearance with his starched clothes and never a hair out of place! His latest place of employment before retiring was for Joe Wilson, where he worked as a land surveyor assistant surveying land all over Milam, Leon, Falls and Brazos Counties. He was a hardworking man where even at the age of 81 he was still chopping his own firewood.
He loved everything about the outdoors, especially coon hunting in his younger years. His hobbies were gardening and playing dominoes with his cousin and best friend, Kenneth Roper. He had many talents. One especially was making bull horns. He spent hours on them and sold them all over the world. He was an avid collector of pocketknives. Many of the younger generation guys looked up to him for his knowledge in hunting skills. He also loved country music with George Jones being his favorite singer. He was loved dearly by his family, and will be forever missed, and in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Darlene Kunkel, His son Dennis Harold Rose and daughters Darla Ann Rose and Dana Lou Rose Arledge and son-in-law Tim Arledge. Grandchildren Taryn and Tyley Arledge. His brother and sister-in-law Don and Karen Rose. His sisters and brother-in-law Betty Henager, Lois Ann Carter, Verna and Hayden Irwin, Sue and Steve Suggs, and a host of loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Merle Dawn Shuffield and three brothers, Lee Eugene “Bubba” Rose, Preston Rose, and Larry Rose.
