It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myrtle Townsend-Ruddick. Born on March 31st, 1932, in Nettleton, Mississippi, Myrtle was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She entered eternal rest on the evening of September 18th, 2024, while surrounded by her loved ones.
Her life was grounded in her Southern Baptist faith, serving her community and family with unwavering love.
One of 10 siblings, Myrtle’s fondest memory was “going to the picture show” with her friends.
She married her best friend and the love of her life, Arthur Lenard Townsend on February 6th, 1949. She gave birth to two daughters, Deborah (Townsend) Isbell, Melinda (Townsend) Wegwert, and one son, Stacy Townsend.
She is survived by all three of her children, along with 7 grandchildren – Tonya Miller, Lance Wegwert, Joe Wegwert, Alli Isbell, Sean Isbell, Hope Sifuentez, Anna Townsend, and 9 great grandchildren.
After the passing of Arthur, she found friendship and love in Charles Ruddick. They married on September 23rd, 2006, and were together until he was called home October 4th, 2019.
Myrtle loved to quilt, sew, and cook. She enjoyed the calm and quiet of her rural home watching the birds from her porch swing as well as camping and fishing whenever she could.
As we celebrate the life of Myrtle Townsend-Ruddick, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace with the Lord. Her faith and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
