It is with deep sorrow and a profound love that we announce the passing of Mikel Ray Windham. On May 9, 2025, at age 79, Mike peacefully went home and entered the arms of the Lord. A man of integrity, faith, and unwavering love for his family.
Born in Woodworth, Louisiana, on January 25th, 1946, to Ray and Sybil Windham, Mike was the second of five siblings. Growing up, his parents taught him the importance of faith, family, and hard work.
Around 1970, Mike began his career Robertson Tank Lines as a Dispatcher and continued for twenty years, as it became DSI Transport. There he was a leader, a friend and considered his coworkers as family.
Beyond his work, Mike was a Deacon at a small Baptist Church outside of Hearne for many years. He and his family were heavily involved in church activities, Sunday School, Bible Study and he was proud of his Faith in our Lord Jesus. He drove the Church bus to pick up the ones that wanted to worship and didn’t have a way to service. It wasn’t a job to him; he thoroughly enjoyed it. He was also a long-standing member of the Masonic Lodge.
When he wasn’t working, Mike enjoyed many hobbies that enriched his life. He had a love for music, travel, flea marketing, horseback riding and more. We will always remember him for his love of playing his steel guitar, playing with the band and how he cherished the band members. He will be greatly missed.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kathleen Windham, his loving children, Jerry Windham, Tracy Kellar, Taresa Windham and Mona Goethe and his stepchildren Jason Coones and Shana Jackal. His grandchildren Brandon Windham, Brittney Sutterfield, Taylor Rodriguez, Robert Bacon, Mikel Goethe, Hailey Goethe, Braden Goethe, James Witt and Rachel Witt. His great granddaughters Kelsey Bacon and Nylah Steptoe. And his three step grands Trevor, Charles and Sebastian. He is survived by his brothers, Degory Hudson and Ray Windham and a sister Barbara Matthews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother Jerry Windham who he is now reunited with in the presence of the Lord.
Mike (Daddy), you were a blessing to us all, and we are forever grateful for the time we had with you. Your love, faith, and leadership will live on in each of us.
