Joe Anthony Stratta was born on November 10, 1927, on the family farm in the Brazos Bottom of Robertson County, Texas to Tony and Bessie Stratta. He played on the football team, played the trumpet in his high school band, and graduated from Hearne High School in 1946, after which he joined his father in working on the family farm. He moved to Hearne in 1955, and lived there until he passed away on December 10, 2023. He married Anna Marino on October 27, 1957 and they enjoyed more than 66 years of marriage together. During that time, they were blessed with three sons—Anthony, Micheal and David.
Joe was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne, Texas. He was a life-long cotton and grain farmer in the Brazos Bottom. Joe loved working with kids and was a coach with the Hearne Little League program for over 20 years. He also served as a director of the Robertson County Farm Bureau and was a member of the Roberson County Soil and Water Conservation Board. He loved to spend his free time gardening, fishing and dove hunting.
Although he loved being outdoors and working the land, nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and took great joy in cooking bar-b-que for his family.
Joe is survived by his wife Anna (Marino) Stratta of Hearne, his sons Anthony Stratta and wife Connie of Elliott, Michael Stratta of Bryan, and David Stratta and wife Wendi of Hearne, along with three grandchildren Stephanie Stratta, Steven Stratta and wife Lucero, and Lane Stratta.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to his wonderful caretakers at Crossroads Nursing and Rehabilitation and Traditions Hospice for the compassion that they showed to him and his family.
