Jeryl Lynn Hay

January 22, 1937 — October 4, 2025

Jeryl Lynn “Jerry” Hay passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 88. She was born on January 22, 1937 at St. Joseph’s Infirmary in Houston, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas and also attended Calvary Baptist Church. She lived with her grandmother Ella “Mama” Hollis until she met Kenneth and they married after knowing each other for 6 months on March 12, 1955.

Jeryl Lynn’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She loved deer hunting, fishing, league bowling and walking on the beach looking for shells and treasures with her family. She was a great cook and our family always looked forward to the holidays. For Thanksgiving we would have her homemade dressing with giblet gravy and her famous shrimp creole for Christmas. When we were younger, she would make prune cakes for our teachers and loved making and decorating tea cakes for the holidays. She could grow anything in her garden and beautiful flowers in her yard. As time went by, she really loved to color in her coloring books. She would sit for hours coloring beautiful pictures.

She is survived by her loving husband Kenneth of 70 years, children Marion “Lynn” Hay (Blaine Koonce), Cynthia Butler (Michael Butler) and Elizabeth Rodda (George Rodda); 3 grandchildren, Christopher Butler, Natalie Butler and Steven Rodda (Taryn Rodda); 5 great-grandchildren, Kain Dishongh, Klaire French, Rayne Rodda, Southern Nichols and another great-grandson on the way.

Jeryl Lynn was preceded in death by her parents Cecil Milton Green and Sibyl Blanche Massey, brother Hugh David Massey, sister Marion Dudley Waters,
sister-in-law Audentha Hay, brother-in-law Wayne Hay and sister-in-law Anna Hay.

Pallbearers are Michael Butler, George Rodda, Blaine Koonce, Christopher Butler, Steven Rodda and Kevin Hay. Honorary Pallbearer Kain Dishongh
