James “Jimmy” Edwin Janac, 75, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2025, surrounded by love, memories, and the comfort of a life well lived.
A proud Hearne, Texas resident, Jimmy was a beloved husband, Dad, Pa, and friend to many. After dedicating years of service to the U.S. Post Office, he retired and settled into the roles he loved most — family man, ranch supervisor (of his own cows), critter wrangler, and expert deer-stand philosopher.
Jimmy never met a stranger and always had a story ready — often told with a grin, a laugh, and a twinkle in his eye. Whether he was checking on the cows, dogs, cats or sharing a quiet morning outdoors, he found joy in the simple, meaningful moments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Annie Jane Janac; his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Bob) Mayfield and brother-in-law Randy Landreth.
He is survived by the love of his life, Shelley Harris-Janac; his children, Amy Janac and Keith (Shelly) Janac; grandchildren Jordan (Jonathan), Riley, Dillon, and Carly; great-grandchildren Haisley and Jaxson; his siblings Joe (Lou) Janac, David (Leslie) Janac, Barbara (Bobby) Lebow, and Mary Landreth, his brothers-in-laws Barry Harris, Rick Harris and Mike (Rhonda) Harris; along with a big, loving group of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss his wit, warmth, and steady presence.
While Jimmy may have hung up his postal bag and boots, his stories and spirit will carry on through all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 802 S Market St, Hearne, TX 77859.
The family kindly asks that donations be made in Jimmy Janac’s name to the Snook Volunteer Fire Department, 10201 Farm to Market 2155 Loop Somerville, Texas, 77879.
