Griselda Hart

April 28, 1955 — June 14, 2024

Hearne

Griselda Hart, of Hearne, Texas, was called home by her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2024, at the age of 69.

Griselda was so many things: daughter, sister, dentist, missionary, wife, widow, mother, foster mother, immigrant, teacher….. but one thing permeated every single role – her love for and radical trust in Jesus Christ. She exemplified the joy, peace and purpose that come from wholeheartedly believing that “the Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who take refuge in Him.” (Nahum 1:7).

She loved serving both in and outside of the church and spent many of her days serving at the local food pantry, visiting those in need of comfort and prayer, attending Bible studies and teaching Bible study to a group of elementary-age girls. She spent so much time on her knees in prayer, and pored over His word and loved discussing what she was learning about God’s character. Her humor, compassion, wisdom and strength made her a spiritual role model to so many.

She did not live an easy life, by any means. She encountered many trials in her life: childhood poverty, moving to a new country without family or knowing the language, struggles with infertility, the loss of her first husband and dear loved ones, and finally, cancer. While any and all of these struggles could have easily shaken her faith, they instead forged a deeper intimacy with her precious Savior. She spoke of His goodness and faithfulness constantly to anyone who would listen. Her house was truly built on the solid rock!

To her daughter and husband, she was the greatest, most loving mother and wife. She showed her love to them every day, both in word and action. To her family, she was a wonderful sister, aunt, and cousin. To her friends she was a listening ear, counselor and loyal companion.

Griselda is preceded in death by her father, Ismael; her mother, Laura; her sister, Ana Laura; her brother, Samuel, and her first husband, Wesley.

Left to carry on Griselda’s legacy of living one day at a time is her loving husband of 26 years, Mark Hart, and her daughter, Laura Cureton; her siblings Ismael, Javier and Olga; her cousins Erika and Claudia, and so many others.

The family would like to especially thank the oncology team at Baylor Scott & White and Traditions hospice for their care; First Baptist Church of Hearne for their support as church family, and so many family and friends who went above and beyond during this difficult time.
