Gathan John Reistino

Gathan John Reistino, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by his family.

Gathan was born on August 29, 1927 in Marlin, Texas. He attended Mumford Elementary School and graduated from Hearne High School in 1945. He married Angel Stratta on January 2, 1955. They celebrated sixty-six and a half years of marriage and had two daughters, Frances Muse and Dianna Bilhartz.

Gathan was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Hearne, Texas. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher in the Brazos Bottom. He was a member of the Brazos Valley Cotton Warehouse, Inc. and he served as Secretary for the Mumford ISD school board.

Gathan is survived by his wife Angel and his two daughters Frances Muse (husband Louis) and Dianna Bilhartz (husband David).

He had seven grandchildren: Michael Baker (deceased), April Baker (deceased), Kevin Baker, Erica Muse, David Bilhartz II, Sara Shroff, and Mary Ann Bell; nine great grandchildren: Callie Baker, Cassie Baker, Colton Baker, Ty Baker, Jeffrey Shroff Jr., Carter Shroff, Hannah Shroff, Davis Bell, and Daniel Bell; and 3 great-great grandchildren: Madalynn, Ryan, and Mariah.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to his wonderful caretakers, Crystale and Shay for their kindness and excellent service. They would also like to extend their appreciation to Traditions Hospice.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne, TX.

Rosary will be held at 1:00 P.M. and Mass will follow at 2:00 P.M.
