Eva Lara Ruiz

Eva Lara Ruiz, 79, of Hearne passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan, Texas.  

Eva was born on November, 18, 1943 in Hearne, Texas. to Jesse and Juanita Lara.  She was a lifelong resident of Hearne, Texas.  Eva married Margarito Ruiz, Sr. on June 28, 1959. They were married for 58 years before his death in 2017.  Eva and Margarito had 12 children with one passing away at birth.  She was a wonderful and dedicated housewife and mother.  Eva was a caregiver for her mother for years before her passing. 

Eva was a beautiful soul who created a loving environment in her home for not only her children and grandchildren but also extended family and friends.  Her home was always the place in which they wanted to gather.  She loved having visitors every day and speaking with her friends on the telephone to catch up.  Eva was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hearne.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and newborn son, Johnny.  Two adult children also precede her in death, Melissa Ruiz Vasquez and David Ruiz, Sr.  She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Herminio Lara, Sr., Jesse Lara, Jr., and Frank Lara, Sr., as well as her sisters, Felis Cancino, Josephine Ruiz, and Catalina Saenz.
Eva is survived by her children, Sally Villalpando (Roy), Mary Helen Ruiz, Adam Ruiz, Sr. (Amy), Sylvia Ruiz Castilleja (Chris),  Patsy Leija (Tony), Margaret Vaca (Frankie), Johnny Ruiz, Margarito Ruiz, Jr., and Laticia Ruiz.  Eva is also survived by 2 sisters, Virginia Alamanza and Janie Gomez, one sister-in-law, Mary Lara, and one brother-in-law, Magdaleno Cancino.  Eva also has 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.  Including spouses of these family members, Eva was blessed with a very large and loving family that will forever be grateful for her love, dedication and guidance to them.  She will be deeply missed.

The family will greet  family and friends on Thursday, July 6th, from 5-7 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, 802 South Market Street, Hearne, TX 77859. Father Ramon will offer a Funeral Mass on Friday, July 7, at 10 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 402 West 1st Street, Hearne, TX 77859. Following Mass, family and friends will proceed to San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hearne for final rest.
