Dorthy Ann Rabe Fleetwood

Dorothy (Dot) Ann Rabe Fleetwood was born April 17, 1933, to J.G. Rabe and Dorothea Hanhart Rabe and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 4, 2025. She lived in New Baden, Texas and grew up with two older sisters, Lucille and Hilda. She graduated valedictorian and football sweetheart from Franklin High School in 1950. Dot met and married James D. (Jimmy) Fleetwood on May 4, 1951. They lived in Hearne, Texas where all three of their children (Vicki, Danny and Jami) were born.

In July 1971 the family moved to Friendswood, Texas when Jimmy accepted a job in South Houston. In the 36 years that Dot lived in Friendswood she was co-owner of Friendswood Floral. She had a green thumb and a love for plants and flowers that lasted her whole life. She was an active member at Friendswood First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, helped with Vacation Bible School, was a Sunday school teacher, Director of GA’s and a camp counselor for 20 years. Dot was also a PTA volunteer, participated in her neighborhood Bible studies, Christian Women’s Club and Community Chorus. She was an avid traveler and kept meticulous pictorial records of her travels, visiting places such as Israel, Spain, France, Hawaii and went on many cruises.

Jimmy passed away in July of 1997 after 46 years of marriage.Dot moved to the Terrace retirement community in 2007 to be closer to her family. While there, she was secretary for Terrace Chapel. This is where she met Jack Edwards who became her best friend and companion until his death in June 2022. She was affectionately known as Momma Dot by her grandchildren, Dot Dot by her great grandchildren and Queen Mother by those who knew her best.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents J.G. and Dora Rabe, her sisters Lucille and Hilda and granddaughter Amanda. She is survived by her daughter Vicki and husband James Pearson, son Danny Fleetwood and wife Anne, and daughter Jami and husband Don Vinson; grandchildren Chris Panto and wife Heather, David Panto and wife Laura; Misti Daniel and husband Shane, Sunni Alperti and husband Chris, Danielle Newman and husband Alex; J.T. Vinson, Zac Vinson, Melodie Penland and husband Daniel and Nathan Vinson. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Caleb Panto, Connor Panto and Abby (Panto) Miller and husband Martin Miller, Jonathan Panto and Aaron Panto; Lilly Daniel, Adelia Alperti; Brayden Penland and Matthew Penland; Rabe Vinson and Andrew Vinson; and Ashton Vinson and Sagan Vinson.
