She was the fifth of six children. The family moved to Waco when Dot was a young child, and she graduated from Waco High. Soon after, she married Bill Doherty and attended business college. Dot led a life of service to the Lord, service to her community, and service to family. In the community she had a part in many local organizations. For many years she helped lead Norwood Cemetery Association. Dot’s service expanded to College Station, Texas where she volunteered at the George Bush Presidential Library. Dot was always involved in the church, including Vacation Bible School and many other church programs. Dot also cared for the Robertson County community through volunteering at The Call for Help.
She loved gardening and participating in the Green Thumb Garden Club.
Dot became “Mimi” in 1981 and her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren were some of the greatest joys of her life.
