Deborah Ann Green Fatheree

March 30, 1954 — September 4, 2025

Hearne

Deborah Ann Green Fatheree, beloved wife, sister, aunt, friend, and tireless animal advocate, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 71. She was born on March 30, 1954, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to the late Calvin S. Green and Dorothy Buckley Green.

On August 13, 1981, Deb married the love of her life, Larry J. Fatheree, in Harris County, Texas, and together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, fighting for their clients at Larry's law firm, and pampering their pets.

Deb is survived by her husband Larry, her brother, Darrell C. Green (Heather) of Virginia Beach, VA; her nephews Jacob Strange (Kaitlin) of Norfolk, VA, Matthew Green (Jennifer) of Chesapeake, VA, and Stuart Green of Norfolk, VA; her nieces Katie Russell (Trey) of Virginia Beach, VA, Amanda Koenning (William) of San Antonio, TX, and Ashley Shealey (Ronnie) of Virginia Beach, VA. She also leaves behind five grandnephews and two grandnieces, and countless friends and animals who adored her.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Green Shealey, and her parents.

A woman of fierce spirit and unmatched compassion, Deb became a warrior for the voiceless. Through her rescue work, she saved over 4,000 pets, each one a life spared and a family blessed. Her passion for animals changed not only their lives but also the lives of countless people who welcomed them into their homes. Known for her honesty, tenacity, and refusal to shy away from the truth, Deb embodied courage. She was unafraid to ruffle feathers much like the beautiful birds she cherished, Tarzan and Coo-coo, if it meant protecting an animal in need.

Her impact stretched far beyond Robertson County, where she became a cornerstone of the rescue community. She was a mentor and a steady hand in times of heartbreak. She stood with countless pet owners through the loss of beloved pets, guided them in fostering and adoption, and inspired them to join in her mission of rescue.

Even in her final year, after being diagnosed with health issues she chose to keep private, Deb faced life as she always had—on her own terms, fiercely, unapologetically, and with love.

Deb will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to animals, her strength of spirit, her candor, and her friendship.

Her legacy lives on in every wet nose, wagging tail, and grateful family touched by her work. The world and all who knew her are better because she was here.

In lieu of flowers and keeping with Deb’s wishes, memorial donations may be made in her honor to Urgent Animals of Hearne at Robertson County Veterinary Services (979-279-9201), so her passion for caring for animals may continue.
