David’s life reflected Christ’s words in Matthew chapter 6.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth […] but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven […] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
David was not concerned with material possessions but instead was most proud of his family, especially his 14 grandchildren who will always adore him.
David was born to Joe and Kathy Vanadore in Hearne, TX. He graduated as salutatorian of Bryan High School in 1975. His fondest childhood memories were of camping and fishing with his family and spending time with his grandfather.
He met his wife, Denise, on December 23, 1978, and they were married on September 2, 1984, at All Faiths Chapel in College Station, TX. He and Denise often marveled at the work of God’s hand in their lives. His mercies were constant and exemplified in the legacy he left behind.
David was pure-hearted, patient, perpetually late—but always present. As his wife lovingly says, “He was a mess, but he was our mess.” His kindness and patience were evident to most anyone he met. Whether you were an old friend, or a stranger simply trying to find the right bolt or screw in Ace Hardware.
David worked in the construction industry for 40 years and owned his own home remodeling and cabinetry business for 10 of those years. He prided himself in doing things the right way, no matter how long it took. Though he was a hard worker, he lived for his family. He loved sitting on the porch with his wife Denise—playing cards and reflecting on their many blessings. When he wasn’t tinkering in his shop, you could find him alongside his children—remodeling their homes or fixing a broken appliance. Nothing brought him more joy than serving his family. In his free time, David delighted in fishing with his sons, sons-in-law, and grandkids—even chuckling when a grandchild accidentally hooked a lure into his head. He also enjoyed the special time he spent fishing with his brother, Dale.
His memory will be cherished most by his wife of 41 years, Denise; his four children: Haley Williams (Craig), Lacey Howeth (Dale), Brandt Vanadore (Emily), and Landon Vanadore (Ella); and his 14 grandchildren: Eli, Kinsley, Waylon, Sawyer, Laynee, Wyatt, Rhett, Easton, Parker, Evelynn, Tucker, Sadie, Asa, and Elliott.
He also leaves behind his brother Dale (Tracy) Vanadore.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you offer prayers of thanksgiving for David’s life and his family as they grieve his loss.
