David Allen Dyess

November 26, 1963 — January 4, 2026

Caldwell

David Allen Dyess, age 62, entered the arms of the Lord on January 4, 2026.

He was born on November 16, 1963, to Cumby and Elsie Dyess and grew up in Houston, Texas and later moved to Caldwell, Texas in 1981.

David loved to fish in Galveston and enjoyed being in nature. He would fish off the pier and beg to stay longer because he was “fixin’ to catch a big one” and he even won a fishing tournament there. He could hardly wait for Sundays so he could watch the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys, even when he was in the hospital, he still wanted to know the scores of the games. He loved his family and loved coming back to Huffman/Crosby to visit with his sister and her family. He was a real family man.

His favorite song was "I'll Fly Away." When he was a young boy, in his back yard, he would get a step stool and would be "leading the singing" like he was at church. Sometimes it would be his cousins and family other times he would be alone, but he was still worshiping the Lord.

He was a devout Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Caldwell, Texas. He was baptized in that very church by his Uncle Joe, a memory his family holds dearly in their hearts.

His mother describes him as loving. He worried about her all the time, and even though he was sick, his mom was still his biggest concern.

He is survived by his mother, Elsie, his sister, Brenda and her husband Ken and his brother, Donnie. He loved numerous aunts and uncles dearly and many nephews, cousins, neighbors and church family.

He is preceded in death by, his father, Cumby M. Dyess Jr., his son, Jason Allen Dyess, his wife Dorothy Dyess and his grandparents.
