Carol Ann Harriell

August 20, 1942 — January 18, 2024

Carol Ann Hairrell, age 81, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at her home in Hearne, Texas. 

She was born on August 20, 1942, to Elsie and John Hamby in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Shortly after she was born, they moved to Texas, traveling around the state throughout much of her childhood. They later settled in Damon, where she attended school in Needville until she graduated in 1960.

Carol Ann met the love of her life, Larry, when she was 14. They were married on April 29, 1961. They spent over 67 years together and were an excellent example of marriage for their children and grandchildren.

Carol Ann spent many years working as a bookstore manager, mostly with Loupot's Bookstore. She was an avid reader, with Christian Fiction being her favorite. She also enjoyed baking, spending time with her family and her dog, Cinnamon. She loved her children, grandkids and great-grandkids and attended all their activities when she was able. Throughout her life, her church life was important. She enjoyed her Bible study groups and spending time with her church family. She loved her family and was so proud of all their accomplishments. She spent the last few years creating individual memory books for each of her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma.  

She is survived by her husband, Larry, her children, Dena and her husband Allen Palermo, Beth Michell and her husband Glen Chellette, and Brad and his wife Angie Hairrell; Her grandchildren, Brent (and wife Leigh Ann) Palermo, Matt (and wife Larra) Palermo, Cullen (and wife Mary Beth) Hairrell, Kyle Chellette and Deanna (and husband Christian) Piñeiro; Her great grandchildren, Brody, Cole, Carson, Claire, Brooks and Audrey Palermo. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Schneider, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Donald, Robert, and William Hamby, her great granddaughter, Lyla Hope Palermo, and her beloved dog, Cinnamon.
