Alfredo “Fred” Alvarado Sr. May 3, 1959 – June 20, 2024

Alfredo Alvarado, 65, of College Station, formerly of Hearne, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Bryan. Visitation will begin at 9 am, until the service at 10 am, Tuesday, June 25, 2024, both at the funeral home. Internment will follow in San Jose’ Cemetery. Officiating the service are his family members, Johnny Alvarado and Jesse Coronado. Services are in the care of Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory of Hearne. 

Alfredo was born on Sunday, May 3, 1959, to his parents, Emilio and Dora Gonzales Alvarado, in Hearne. Alfredo was industrious in his own ways and was a hard worker for long time residences of Robertson County. He was a man who took on new challenges to learn more of agriculture while employed at the Wood Switch Gin (Cotton Gin) and Stratta Brothers over the years. He was a self-taught, accomplished welder. He worked hard providing for his family especially for his children, Alfredo Jr., Jessica, and Robert. His family was most valued and he shared his work ethics with his children. That gift has been passed on to his grandchildren.

Fred also enjoyed the pleasures of life with his family on various trips as they traveled. He loved the casinos but he also understood how to maintain a healthy practice in playing the various slot machines. His family time was his life and he would prepare his all-time famous BBQ meals to share with them. He was known as a Pit Master providing the best flavored BBQ around. Coming from a large list of siblings, they will remember him as a role model for family living. He could make a bad situation into a more pleasant one and taught his family to see the brighter side of the situation. This man was truly a fan of any Aggie sporting events. He was beginning to appreciate the Texas Longhorns just as his granddaughter would begin her first semester this fall. His love for the Dallas Cowboys will dwell deep in his heart since a was an avid fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents Emilio and Dora Alvarado; his brothers, Johnny Alvarado and Emilio Alvarado Jr.

He is survived by his three children, Alfredo Alvarado Jr., and close companion Leslie Dargani, Jessica Alvarado and long-timefriend Bernard Saenz, and Robert Alvarado; his siblings Arthur and wife Ana Alvarado, Mary Barrera, Billie and husband Jaime Gonzalez, Joe Alvarado, Jesse Alvarado, Chris and wife Lupe Alvarado, Andrew Alvarado, Beatrice and husband Pete Vaca, Barbara Alvarado, and Steven Alvarado; his seven grandchildren who adored their grandpa; his other family and close friends.

Honoring the life of Alfredo Fred Alvarado Sr., as Pallbearers are Jacob Barrera, Brandon Alvarado, Matt Gomez, Chris Alvarado Jr, Jesse Paul Barrera, and Bernard Saenz.
