Hearne

Alexander "AJ" Ray Gonzales Jr., age 30, of Hearne, Texas, went to be with Jesus on Monday, August 10, 2026. Born on July 23, 1996, in Bryan, Texas, to Alexander Ray Gonzales Sr. and Crystal Lejia, AJ was a light in the lives of everyone blessed enough to know him.

Raised in Hearne under the devoted care of his grandparents, Trinidad and Victoria Gonzales, AJ grew up anchored in strong family roots. His parents were a vital part of his story, each leaving an indelible mark on his character. His mother Victoria gave him a foundation of unconditional love and steady guidance that he carried throughout his life. Blended with the strong work ethic, values, and mannerisms passed down by his dad and grandfather, AJ grew into a remarkably hardworking young man—someone who took genuine pride in his efforts and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.

AJ was truly a bright, unforgettable soul. Known as the ultimate jokester, he had a rare talent for turning any ordinary moment into a memory filled with laughter. Whether he was dropping an impromptu freestyle rhyme, sharing a quick-witted story, or bringing his signature sarcastic charm to the conversation, AJ’s presence was magnetic. If he was in the room, you were guaranteed to be smiling.

Above all else, AJ treasured his family. He loved nothing more than gathering together, sharing good food, and making memories with those he held dear. As a devoted big brother, he took his role to heart, building deep, individual connections with each of his siblings. He shared an especially irreplaceable bond with his brother Cruz and his sister Celeste, who were not only his siblings but his absolute best friends. Whether surrounded by the energy of a big family celebration or enjoying a quiet moment together, AJ was fully present for the people he loved.

AJ is survived by his wife, Jess Gonzales; his daughter Maleah Gonzales, parents Alex and Marjorie Gonzales; his mother, Crystal Lejia; his mother, Victoria Obella Gonzales, and grandfather, Trinidad Gonzales Sr.
He leaves behind a loving legacy with his sisters, Alexandria Celeste and Jazmyn Gonzales; his brothers, Cruz, Jayden, and Alex Gonzales, alongside Michael and Marc Ybarra; and his beloved aunts and uncles: Monica & Andrew Contreras, Trinidad Jr. & Ana Gonzales , Melinda & Michael Serna, Angela & Stephen Serna, and Marisol & Nik Acosta.

AJ holds a special place in the hearts of his first cousins leaving behind cherished memories and a forever hole in their lives. He also leaves behind numerous other cousins, relatives, and extended family members who are absolutely crushed by this heartbreaking loss.

Though his passing is a tragedy that cuts deeper than words can express, AJ’s warmth, humor, and spirit will live on in every laugh, every shared memory, and every gathering to come. He was deeply loved, extraordinarily special, and will be missed beyond measure.
