Aden Douglas Tuttle

Aden Douglas Tuttle was born on September 23, 1938, in Groesbeck, Texas to parents, Leland and Winnie. He grew up in Prairie Hill with five siblings, Leland “Junior”, Helen, Jerry, Betty and Arlie. He went through 10th grade, until he came home one day with all D’s on his report card, then he decided to drop out and go to work. He drove tractors and did farm work as well as working at the gas station.

Around 1960, Doug met the love of his life, Artie Marie Bynum and in February of 1961 they got married. He was drafted into the Army in 1961, and served 2 years as a mechanic, with 11 months stationed in Thailand. He was Honorably Discharged in 1963 with a Sharpshooter Marksmanship Accommodation. 

They began their family in 1964 with the birth of their first daughter, Trudy Rena. Followed by Carol Denise in 1966 and Patricia Gail in 1969. Throughout his life, Doug worked in law enforcement and as a truck driver for companies like DSI, Sunoco and the US Postal Service.

Doug was a faithful member of Elliott Baptist Church since he joined by baptism in 1980. He served on many committees there, including the building and grounds, the finance committees and was a trustee of the church. He took his kids, grandkids and great grandkids to church there throughout the years and continued going up until weeks before he went home to be with the Lord.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Winnie Tuttle, and siblings, Leland Tuttle Jr. and Helen Cook. 

He leaves behind his siblings; Jerry and Brenda Tuttle, Betty Bently, Arlie Tuttle; the love of his life, Artie and their daughters and sons-in-law; Trudy and Rodney Hancock, Patricia and Brent Harris, and Carol Tuttle; grandchildren; Rebekah Callaway, Stephanie and Paul MacMillan, Matthew and Erin Russell, Daniel and Sheila Russell, and Lydia and Josh Martin; and great grandchildren; Rylee and RJ Callaway, Alexander and Atlas MacMillan, and Lucy Russell; as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, family members, and their beloved dog, Sadie.
